About the Role
RYCO Properties is a Calgary-based real estate and development company shaping communities through commercial, retail, and residential projects. Our flagship property, Marlborough Mall, is home to more than 100 businesses and serves one of Canada's most diverse communities.
We're looking for a Content Producer & Social Media Specialist who is a visual creator first and a social media specialist second.
We're looking for someone who knows how to build a shot, not just capture one. You should be equally comfortable setting up lighting and audio for an interview, producing polished retail and product photography, capturing an event as it happens, or creating a TikTok that feels native to the platform.
Just as importantly, we want someone who understands social media as more than a distribution channel. You'll work closely with the
Director of Marketing to develop ideas, understand what performs on each platform, and actively grow our audiences.
This is a hands-on creative role with significant opportunity to help shape how Marlborough Mall and RYCO Properties tell their stories.

What You'll Do
- Produce professional photo and video content across Marlborough Mall and RYCO developments
- Plan and execute shoots, including lighting, audio, composition, interviews, product photography and environmental content
- Photograph retailers, restaurants, products, people, spaces, events and developments in ways that elevate their stories
- Produce platform-native Reels, TikToks, Stories and static content
- Plan, publish and manage content across social channels
- Bring forward ideas for growing our audiences based on platform trends, analytics and audience behaviour
- Adapt storytelling and creative approaches for the unique audiences and formats of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Cover community events, grand openings and activations
- Create weekly LinkedIn content highlighting RYCO Properties and its developments
- Write captions, interview questions and supporting copy aligned with each brand's voice
- Monitor performance and use insights to continuously improve content
- Build and maintain an organized library of high-quality photo and video assets
- Stay ahead of emerging social formats, trends and platform changes
Who You Are
- A strong photographer and videographer with a portfolio that demonstrates your craft
- Comfortable building a production from setup through final edit
- Confident working with cameras, lenses, lighting and audio equipment
- Highly knowledgeable about TikTok and what makes content succeed on the platform
- Fluent in Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, with an understanding that each channel requires a different approach
- Someone who doesn't need to wait for a content brief to identify a good story or social opportunity
- Comfortable shooting independently in active, real-world environments
- Interested in both the creative craft and the performance of the content you produce
- Curious, self-motivated, organized and dependable
- Comfortable meeting business owners, customers, community members and stakeholders
- Excited to help build brands and audiences, not simply fill a content calendar
Your Toolkit
Must-have experience:
- Advanced photography and videography skills, supported by a strong portfolio
- Professional lighting, composition, audio and production techniques
- Commercial, lifestyle, interview, event and/or product photography and video
- Video editing and post-production using Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or similar
- Strong understanding of TikTok, short-form storytelling, hooks, trends, editing styles and organic audience growth
- Creating content specifically for different social platforms rather than simply reposting the same creative everywhere
- Managing or contributing to the growth of social media channels
- Using social analytics to understand performance and inform future content
Preferred experience:
- Retail, food, hospitality, lifestyle or commercial photography
- Planning productions from concept and shot list through final delivery
- Instagram Reels and emerging short-form content formats
- Content calendars and social media planning
- Live event and activation coverage
- Lightroom, Photoshop, Canva or comparable creative tools
- Writing captions, interview questions, scripts and social copy
- Retail, community, real estate or multi-business environments
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you'll help:
- Grow Marlborough Mall into one of Calgary's most engaging community retail brands
- Establish a distinct and consistent content style across Marlborough's social channels
- Grow TikTok and Instagram through platform-native content and active experimentation
- Build a professional and consistent LinkedIn presence for RYCO Properties
- Create a substantial library of professional photography and video that can be reused across marketing, leasing, events and corporate communications
- Give Marlborough's retailers and restaurants stronger visual exposure through professional content
- Help reshape public perception of Marlborough Mall through consistent visual storytelling
- Become a creative and social media partner to the Director of Marketing, bringing forward ideas and opportunities rather than simply executing assigned content
