We are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Educator to provide exceptional developmental care for two infants (currently 1 month and 4 months old) in a private family setting. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact during the most important years of a child’s development while supporting a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of seniors and their families.
The Opportunity
This is a child-focused position where approximately 90% of your time will be dedicated to early childhood education, infant care, and supporting healthy development.

The remaining portion of the role involves maintaining an organized environment for the children and providing limited household support related to their daily routines.
Primary ResponsibilitiesEarly Childhood Education & Development (Primary Focus)
· Develop and implement age-appropriate developmental activities and learning experiences.
· Support cognitive, language, emotional, social, sensory, and physical development.
· Foster curiosity, creativity, confidence, and independent learning through play-based education.
· Read, sing, and engage children in language-rich interactions throughout the day.
· Introduce age-appropriate exposure to music, art, movement, nature, and exploration.
· Monitor developmental milestones and communicate progress with parents.
· Adapt learning experiences to each child’s individual developmental stage.
· Create a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children feel secure and encouraged to learn.
Infant Care
· Provide attentive, responsive, and nurturing care throughout the day.
· Follow established feeding, sleeping, and daily routines.
· Prepare bottles and age-appropriate meals as the children grow.
· Maintain accurate daily records of feeding, sleep, diaper changes, developmental activities, and milestones.
· Accompany children to appointments and developmental activities as required.
Safety & Well-Being
· Maintain the highest standards of infant and child safety.
· Follow current safe sleep recommendations and infant feeding best practices.
· Maintain CPR and First Aid readiness.
· Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies.
· Identify and communicate developmental, behavioural, or health concerns promptly.
· Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free play and living environments.
Children’s Household Support
· Maintain organized nurseries and children’s play areas.
· Wash and organize children’s clothing, bedding, bottles, and toys.
· Rotate educational toys and learning materials.
· Maintain inventories of diapers, wipes, formula, and children’s supplies.
· Assist with light household organization that directly supports the children’s routines.
· During nap times or quiet periods, occasionally assist with simple household administrative tasks such as ordering children’s supplies, organizing appointments, or maintaining calendars.
Required Qualifications
· Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education.
· Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or eligibility for registration is preferred where applicable.
· Current Infant & Child CPR certification.
· Current Standard First Aid certification.
· Valid Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check.
· Minimum three years of experience caring for infants or young children.
· Thorough understanding of infant development and developmental milestones.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
· Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
· Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience caring for newborns and infants under one year of age.
· Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Pikler, Waldorf, or similar early childhood education training.
· Experience working in a private household.
· Food Handler Certification.
· Water Safety or Swim Instructor certification (asset).
· Fluent in English.
· Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
· Proficiency in a third language is considered a significant asset.
· Experience incorporating additional languages into age-appropriate conversation, stories, music, and play.
