Contract Position Overview
Barry Enterprises Protection & Security Services is seeking Full-Time Seasonal Event Security Specialists for the busy summer event season.
This is an independent contractor position requiring availability for days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays. Successful applicants must be willing to work both day and overnight assignments as operational requirements change.
This position requires frequent travel throughout Alberta to support festivals, concerts, sporting events, community celebrations, construction projects, emergency deployments, and other special events.
We are looking for security professionals who enjoy working with people, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are prepared to take a hands-on approach to maintaining public safety.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional security services at festivals, concerts, sporting events, community events, and private functions.
Conduct continuous foot patrols throughout assigned venues.
Control access points by verifying credentials, conducting bag inspections, and monitoring entry and exit points.
Maintain crowd control and manage large public gatherings in a professional and respectful manner.
Respond immediately to disturbances, fights, medical emergencies, intoxicated patrons, suspicious activity, and other incidents.
Approach individuals confidently, investigate suspicious behaviour, and enforce client policies.
Issue trespass notices and escort unauthorized or disruptive individuals from the property when required.
Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Work closely with Calgary Police Service, RCMP, EMS, Fire Services, AGLC Inspectors, event organizers, and venue management.
Provide security coverage for VIP areas, backstage, artist compounds, alcohol service areas, and emergency exits.
Complete accurate incident reports, daily activity reports, and other required documentation before the end of each shift.
Maintain constant communication with Team Leads, Supervisors, Dispatch, and Operations throughout each event.
Represent Barry Enterprises Protection & Security Services with professionalism, confidence, and integrity.
Contractor Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A valid Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act (SSIA) Security Licence.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- A reliable personal vehicle with the ability to travel throughout Alberta.
- A clean, professional appearance.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to remain calm in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
- The physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Standard First Aid & CPR
- Use of Force Certification
- Handcuff Certification
- Previous event security experience
- Crowd management experience
- Mobile patrol experience
- CCTV monitoring experience
Availability Requirements
Successful contractors must be available to work:
- Days
- Evenings
- Overnight shifts
- Weekends
- Statutory holidays
- Extended shifts during major events
- Multiple consecutive event days

Contract Terms
This is a full-time seasonal independent contractor position.
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own income tax obligations, CPP contributions, insurance, and any other statutory requirements applicable to your business.
Contractors are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, reliability, and availability throughout the summer event season.
