You will be joining a small, mighty, and innovative team with responsibility for the design, communication, and implementation of the benefits programs at TELUS. This role works closely with compensation, finance, benefits administration, payroll, health services, wellness and our external partners. The role reports directly to the Director, People & Culture, Benefits & Pensions.

This group of trusted advisors works diligently to seek to understand what is important to TELUS Team Members as well as the business by practicing thought leadership and a high level of collaboration.

Here's how:

Acting as a subject matter expert for TELUS benefits programs
Participate in the development and ongoing evolution of our group benefits strategy, including plan design and strategic communication of benefits for TELUS Team Members
Benchmarking against industry peers and market trends, developing recommendations to senior leadership to ensure our offerings remain competitive and aligned with organizational goals
Leverage benefits utilization data, claims experience, and benchmarking reports to drive evidence-based decisions and continuous improvement of benefit programs
Monitor and interpret federal and provincial legislative changes affecting group benefits and insurance
Analyzing data to look for trends and patterns to assist with the development and analysis of the corporate benefits budget
Development and quarterly analysis of corporate benefits budget
Developing, communicating, and maintaining the annual flexible benefits enrollment process
Managing the annual group insurance renewal process and the financial management of the benefit plan
Serve as a senior point of contact for complex team member inquiries and escalations related to benefits. Provide empathetic, accurate, and timely resolution while identifying systemic issues for process improvement.
Partnering with vendors to monitor services and planning utilization reviews
Managing the process of harmonization during mergers and acquisitions

Qualifications

You're the missing piece of the puzzle

Progressive experience in group benefits, total rewards, or a related P&C/HR function within a large, complex organization (10,000+ employees preferred)
Deep knowledge of Canadian group benefits legislation, including provincial health insurance acts, Employment Insurance, and related federal/provincial regulations
Demonstrated experience in benefits plan design, benchmarking, and strategy development
Strong financial acumen with experience managing and forecasting large benefits budgets
Exceptional communication and presentation skills — you can translate complex benefits concepts into clear, accessible language for all audiences
Experience designing and facilitating webinars, town halls, or educational sessions for large employee populations
Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and lead procurement or renewal processes
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
A collaborative, team-first mindset with the ability to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization
Professional designation such as CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) is considered an asset
Experience in the telecommunications, technology, or similarly complex industry is an asset
Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
Excellent organizational skills and able to juggle priorities and tight deadlines
Dedicated team player, who demonstrates initiative and independence, is adaptable to changing priorities
Highly proficient with MS Office Suite – PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Google Suite

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.

Salary Range: $90,000-$140,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 15%
