Lead Security Systems Technician – CCTV, Access Control & Low VoltagePosition Overview
Site Connect is looking for an experienced Lead Security Systems Technician to support the installation, commissioning, service, and delivery of commercial security and low-voltage systems.
This is a hands-on field leadership role for someone who can lead technicians while also actively completing installation work. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with IP cameras, access control, intercom, networking, structured cabling, and integrated security systems, with experience using Verkada or similar platforms considered a strong asset.
The Lead Technician is responsible for coordinating field activities, reviewing scope and drawings, directing crews, troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining installation quality, and communicating project progress and site conditions to Site Connect's project and operations teams.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesSecurity & Low-Voltage Installation
- Install, terminate, test, configure, and troubleshoot commercial security and low-voltage systems.
- Install and commission IP cameras, access control devices, door hardware interfaces, intercoms, network equipment, and associated infrastructure.
- Complete structured cabling installation, termination, testing, labelling, and documentation.
- Support the configuration and commissioning of Verkada and other cloud-managed security platforms.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, security layouts, riser diagrams, specifications, and work orders.
- Identify installation challenges, deficiencies, scope gaps, and potential change-order work before they impact project delivery.
- Complete system testing, commissioning, deficiency correction, and final project handover.
Field Leadership
- Lead assigned technicians and apprentices in safe, productive, and high-quality field execution.
- Review daily scope, drawings, site requirements, access restrictions, materials, tools, and priorities with the crew.
- Assign tasks and organize field activities based on technician experience, project requirements, and schedule.
- Monitor workmanship and productivity while providing hands-on coaching and technical support.
- Ensure installations meet Site Connect standards, manufacturer requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes.
- Support the development of junior technicians and apprentices through practical field mentorship.
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Communicate project progress, delays, deficiencies, safety concerns, material shortages, scope changes, and technical issues to Project Management.
- Coordinate with customers, general contractors, electricians, IT teams, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades as required.
- Ensure daily reports, photos, testing records, time entries, material usage, deficiencies, and commissioning documentation are complete and accurate.
- Maintain organized work areas, equipment, tools, materials, and company property.
- Support material planning and identify upcoming equipment or installation requirements before they affect the schedule.
Customer & Team Communication
- Represent Site Connect professionally on customer and construction sites.
- Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams regarding site conditions, progress, outstanding items, and next steps.
- Take ownership of assigned work and escalate issues early when additional support or direction is required.
- Help maintain a positive, accountable, and solutions-focused field culture.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience installing and servicing commercial security, access control, CCTV, networking, or low-voltage systems.
- Strong experience with IP-based cameras and network-connected security devices.
- Experience with Verkada is considered a strong asset; experience with comparable platforms such as Avigilon, Genetec, Axis, Hanwha, Brivo, LenelS2, or similar systems is also valuable.
- Experience leading technicians, apprentices, or small field crews.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling, network fundamentals, device installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, and security system layouts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to independently diagnose field and system issues.
- High attention to detail and pride in clean, professional installation work.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage changing site priorities while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity.
- Comfortable using mobile applications, Microsoft 365, PDF drawings, shared documentation platforms, and field management software.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with an acceptable driver's abstract.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Ideal Candidate
You are an experienced security or low-voltage technician who enjoys being in the field and taking ownership of project delivery. You are comfortable leading a crew, but you are equally comfortable getting on the tools when required.
You understand that a successful security installation is more than mounting devices — it requires clean workmanship, strong network fundamentals, proper testing and commissioning, accurate documentation, and clear communication with the customer and project team.
Experience with Verkada is an advantage, but we are equally interested in strong security technicians with experience on other commercial platforms who are capable of quickly learning new technology.
Pay: $25.00-$38.00 per hour
