About Kivora Caregivers
Kivora Caregivers is a Calgary-based home and community care provider committed to delivering compassionate, individualized support to children, youth, adults, and families. We also support children and youth with developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), through individualized behavioural and developmental supports.
We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and skilled Behavioural & Developmental Support Workers to join our growing team.
Position Summary
The Behavioural & Developmental Support Worker provides individualized, goal-oriented support to children and youth with autism and other developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.
Working in accordance with the child’s individualized service plan and behavioural/developmental program plan, the successful candidate will help children develop functional, social, communication, emotional-regulation, and daily-living skills while promoting safety, dignity, independence, and inclusion.
This position may involve working under the direction or supervision of a qualified behavioural or developmental professional, where required
Key Responsibilities
· Provide one-on-one behavioural and developmental support in the child’s home and community.
· Implement individualized goals, strategies, and interventions outlined in the child’s support/program plan.
· Support the development of communication, social, emotional-regulation, and daily-living skills.
· Assist children with routines, transitions, activities, and community participation.
· Use positive, respectful, and evidence-informed behavioural support strategies.
· Recognize and respond appropriately to challenging behaviours while maintaining the child’s safety and dignity.
· Follow established behaviour-support and safety plans.
· Collect accurate and objective information regarding behaviours, activities, skill development, and progress.
· Complete detailed daily shift notes and service documentation.
· Communicate observations and concerns to parents/guardians and the supervising professional, as appropriate.
· Maintain professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality.
· Work collaboratively with parents, caregivers, behavioural professionals, and other members of the child’s support team.
· Participate in training, team meetings, supervision, and program reviews as required.
· Support the child’s independence rather than creating unnecessary dependence on caregivers.
· Report incidents, safety concerns, changes in behaviour, or other significant events promptly.
· Perform other duties related to the child’s individualized support plan.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
· Previous experience working with children or youth with autism and/or developmental disabilities.
· Strong understanding of child development and positive behavioural support.
· Ability to establish a trusting and respectful relationship with children and families.
· Strong communication, observation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when responding to challenging behaviours.
· Ability to work independently while following an established support plan.
· Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification.
· Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
· Child Intervention Record Check, where required.
· Reliable transportation may be required depending on client location.
