Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Powder Coating Shop Labourer/Sandblaster to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing metal components through sandblasting and applying durable powder coatings to ensure high-quality finishes. Your hands-on work will contribute to the production of finished products that meet strict quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment while supporting the manufacturing process from start to finish.

Duties

Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces for coating, ensuring optimal adhesion and finish quality
Apply powder coatings using spray guns and powder coating booths, following specified color and thickness requirements
Maintain and troubleshoot sandblasting and powder coating machinery to ensure efficient operation
Assist with loading and unloading parts using cranes, forklifts, or hand tools, adhering to safety protocols
Perform basic mechanical tasks such as assembling parts or fixtures as needed for coating processes
Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve productivity
Conduct quality inspections on finished products to verify coating consistency and surface integrity

Skills

Proficiency in operating cranes, forklifts, and power tools safely and effectively
Mechanical knowledge with experience in machining, welding, or assembly is a plus
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic math for measurements and calculations
Understanding of lean manufacturing practices to support continuous improvement initiatives
Ability to interpret technical drawings or specifications related to coating projects
Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety standards in a manufacturing environment
Basic knowledge of welding techniques and mechanical systems is advantageous
