Live-In Caregiver — Full-Time Rotational Position - Female Caregiver Preferred
Dalhousie, NW Calgary | $27/hour ($324 per 12-hour live-in shift) | Approximately 15 days/month
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and dependable live-in caregiver to provide full-time care for an 80-year-old woman with multiple sclerosis who is quadriplegic and requires substantial assistance with daily activities.
The client has requested a female caregiver due to personal privacy, dignity and comfort considerations associated with intimate personal-care duties.
This is a long-term position shared equally by two caregivers, with each caregiver working approximately 182–183 days per year, or about 15 days per month.
Schedule
· Typically 2–3 consecutive 12-hour live-in shifts followed by 2–3 days off
· Caregiver resides in the home overnight while working
· Approximately half of weekends and statutory holidays
· The two caregivers will ideally coordinate their schedules together, providing flexibility in arranging their days off
· Stable, predictable long-term schedule
Compensation & Accommodation
· $27/hour ($324 per 12-hour live-in shift)
· Approximately 182–183 shifts per year
· Private bedroom in a comfortable 2-bedroom home
· Shared bathroom
· Meals provided; caregiver prepares meals for both themselves and the client
· No vehicle required
Responsibilities
The caregiver will provide assistance with:
· Personal care and hygiene
· Bathing — performed with assistance from the second caregiver
· Toileting
· Safe transfers and mobility
· Use of ceiling lifts and slings
· Medication reminders and assistance in taking
· Meal preparation
· Light housekeeping
· Laundry
· Grocery ordering and minor errands
· Scheduling Handi-Bus transportation when required
· Appointment scheduling and coordination
· Companionship and social interaction
· Monitoring general well-being and communicating concerns to the family
Qualifications & Experience
HCA certification is strongly preferred, although significant relevant hands-on caregiving experience will be considered.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Experience caring for individuals with significant physical disabilities
· Strong hands-on experience with ceiling lifts, slings and safe transfers
· Experience providing personal care, including bathing and toileting
· Experience with medication assistance
· Strong English communication skills — the ability to speak and communicate effectively in English is required
· Good judgment, patience, reliability and compassion
· Ability to work independently and as part of a two-caregiver team
· First Aid/CPR certification preferred
· Professional caregiving references
· Vulnerable sector/criminal record check
A paid orientation period will be provided to familiarize the successful candidate with the client’s routines, equipment and care requirements.
About the Home
The home is located in Dalhousie, NW Calgary.
It is a non-smoking, pet-free home. No pets are permitted.
The caregiver has a private bedroom and shared bathroom. Meals are provided.
About the Client
The client is an 80-year-old woman with MS who enjoys:

· Playing cards
· Conversation and companionship
