Full job description

SE Calgary General Practice Law Office looking for a part-time experienced real estate assistant/paralegal (in office).

Maybe you were a real estate paralegal before becoming a stay at home mom and now want to get back into the market? Or maybe you work full time but want to wind down a little and start to inch towards retirement?

We are looking for a paralegal that has the following skills: the ability to work under pressure; strong communication skills; willingness to assist on a variety of matters as required; organized and able to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines; and a strong attention to detail. This part time position would entail any or some of the following:

· Answering calls and emails to clients, other lawyers, banks, etc

· Conducting and reviewing searches (SPIN / taxes)

· Prepare and proofread documents prior to sending to clients and/or other lawyers

· Drafting and revising documents, checklists and organizing materials for client meetings, transactions, and closings

· Sending out and processing invoices, completing trust deposits and all billings on transactions

· Other administrative duties as required (opening files / closing files / assisting clients who drop in, etc)

This is a part time, in-office, Monday to Friday, year round position. We estimate it would be 19 to 25 hours per week with the exception being holiday relief coverage where you may have to work up to 35 hours per week. You would be paid hourly with an hourly rate to be discussed.

The qualifications of this position are:

· Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma or Certificate

· a minimum of five years of experience in real estate transactions within Alberta is mandatory (hourly rate will be based on your experience level). This is NOT an entry level position.

· Experience with WordPerfect, MS Office and Soluno (ActionStep Accounting) would be an asset
