With accomplished teams in leadership, people & culture, cultivation, manufacturing and retail, our vision to be Canada’s favourite source for cannabis – and a great place to work – is the cornerstone of our business.The IPM Technician is responsible for monitoring pest ecosystems to evaluate the presence of pest species, natural pests predators and environment factors that may contribute to pest problems.Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Ensure safe work conditions and practices within the greenhouse by enforcing company Safety, Health and Environmental policies while actively using the correct PPE for the task at hand.</li><li>Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for Good Production Practices (GPP) and GMP.</li><li>Conduct inspections of crops and environmental conditions using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques, as per the schedule determined by the IPM Specialist.</li><li>Aid all areas of cultivation as needed.</li><li>Monitor pest ecosystems to evaluate the presence of pest species, natural pest predators, and environmental factors that may contribute to pest problems.</li><li>Ensure that biological control inventory is dispersed on time and in a manner that is productive.</li><li>Report any deviations from established procedures to IPM Specialist and/or Cultivation Supervisor/Systems Supervisor or Cultivation Manager.</li><li>Work with chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, and sanitizers while following all safety procedures and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Monitor and refill stock tanks when needed, ensuring proper sanitation.</li><li>Document all findings; complete inspection reports and provide reports to IPM Specialist.</li><li>Clean and sanitize work area and equipment as required.</li><li>Apply preventative measures and control products; document action taken.</li><li>Follow the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and any new revisions set by PMRA.</li><li>Perform proper pesticide handling, mixing, application, documentation, storage and disposal.</li><li>Comply with company procedures, policies, regulatory requirements, and guidelines of current and future market.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>6 months or more in a hands-on IPM related role with cannabis</li><li>Passion for plant life and care</li><li>Ability to work both in a team and independently</li><li>Capable of frequent and repetitive hand movements.</li><li>Ability to sit, kneel, bend, and stand for a long time, and frequently walk during the scheduled shift</li><li>Must be able to do repetitive lifting of up 50 lbs., unassisted</li><li>Ability to accurately follow multi-layered instructions</li><li>Position requires proper use of PPE up to and including an N95 Respirator and/or a half face reusable respirator</li><li>‘Grower Pesticide Safety’ certificate considered an asset.</li></ul>Working conditions<ul><li>This is a greenhouse working environment, which may have continuous exposure to heat, light and humidity</li><li>Required to work on weekends and during holidays, if needed. </li><li>This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift/move heavy objects (up to 50lbs), standing and bending</li></ul>At BZAM, we provide a competitive wage range that is based on your experience and expertise.
