Full job description

WHAT THIS IS

A senior, technical leadership role at a growing fractional finance firm. You'll own some of our most complex client accounts - multi-entity structures and real estate brokerage portfolios where sales tax and trust accounting need to be done right.

You're a player-coach: someone with deep, hands-on accounting experience who can do the work, review someone else's work, and hold both to the same standard.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

Own a portfolio of clients, including at least one complex, multi-entity real estate brokerage account
Direct and lead a team of bookkeepers - reviewing their output, setting the standard, and stepping in when it counts
Lead month-end close and working paper review across your portfolio
Own sales tax (GST/HST) end-to-end - calculation, filing, and staying ahead of anything that could put a client offside
Own trust account reconciliation review - accurate, compliant every month
Be the senior escalation point clients trust - you can walk a business owner or executive through their numbers, and you can also get into the ledger yourself when it counts
Identify inefficiencies in how a client's finance stack runs, and drive the fix - whether that's a process change or a new tool

YOU'RE THE RIGHT FIT IF

You have 10+ years of accounting experience, including full-cycle bookkeeping, month-end close, and working papers
You know Canadian sales tax (GST/HST) cold - not just the mechanics, but when something looks off
You've owned trust accounting - accurate, compliant, no shortcuts
You're a player-coach - you can do the work yourself, and you can also direct someone else's work and hold them to your standard
You're comfortable owning a client relationship at the senior level - including the harder conversations
QBO and Xero are second nature
You love using Claude, ChatGPT, etc. to help automate the boring stuff
CPA designation

NICE TO HAVE

Real estate brokerage industry experience
Lone Wolf experience
