Seaborn Manufacturing is a Waterloo based metal fabrication company that produces built-to-print steel, stainless and aluminum components and welded assemblies for equipment manufacturers. Our work includes laser cutting, tube bending, press brake forming, welding, and assembly.

Seaborn Manufacturing has an immediate opening for a General Laborer in our Waterloo metal fabrication plant.
This is an entry level position with an opportunity to build a long-term career in manufacturing. Previous fabrication experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, pays attention to details and wants to learn.
The successful person will initially assist with laser-cutting production and general shop duties. As they demonstrate reliability and ability, there may be opportunities to train in shipping and receiving, welding, brake press operation and other fabrication processes.
Main responsibilities:
- Assist with loading and unloading sheet and plate from the laser cutting systems
- Sort, identify, count and organize laser-cut parts
- Remove burrs and prepare parts for the next production operation
- Move and stage material safely using appropriate equipment
- Assist with packaging, labelling and preparing orders for shipment
- Verify part numbers and quantities against production and shipping paperwork
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Follow work instructions and report damaged, missing or incorrect parts
- Assist in other production areas when required
What we are looking for:
- Reliable attendance and the ability to arrive ready for work at the scheduled start time
- A genuine interest in learning manufacturing and fabrication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully
- Basic math, counting and measuring ability
- Attention to part numbers, quantities and product quality
- A safety-first approach when working around machinery and sheet metal
- Ability to work independently after training while also cooperating with other employees
- Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including standing, bending and lifting up to [insert actual weight] pounds, with accommodation where required
- Reliable transportation to our Waterloo facility
Experience in manufacturing, shipping, forklift operation, welding, metal fabrication or operating machinery is an asset but is not required.
