Full job description

About the Role
Red Rhino is looking for a Senior Web Developer who can lead the technical execution of website and digital product builds—from architecture and development through QA and deployment. You’ll collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, project managers, and the digital strategy team to build high-performance, scalable, and maintainable websites for a diverse range of clients.

Key Responsibilities

Lead development of custom WordPress, or headless CMS builds
Architect backend structures, plugins, integrations, and custom functionality
Translate Figma/UI designs into responsive, accessible, pixel-perfect front-end code
Manage deployment processes, hosting configurations, and server environments
Audit existing sites for performance, security, and SEO best practices
Ensure all builds follow agency coding standards and documentation practices
Troubleshoot complex issues and provide technical mentorship to junior developers
Collaborate with the broader team on scoping, feasibility, and timelines

Required Skills & Experience

5–7+ years of professional web development experience
Expert-level WordPress development (custom themes, custom blocks, ACF, APIs)
Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP
Experience with hosting environments (WP Engine, Pantheon, AWS, Cloudflare)
Familiarity with Git workflows, version control, and modern build tools
Understanding of technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, and accessibility standards

Nice to Have

Experience with React, Vue, or other JS frameworks
Experience with HubSpot CMS or headless platforms (Sanity, Contentful)
Background in agency environments with multiple concurrent builds
