Full job description

The Faculty of Nursing (FoN) is seeking a highly organized and proactive individual to provide comprehensive academic advising and student support across its programs. This role contributes to program approval and accreditation activities within the undergraduate program, supporting continuous improvement of program performance and student learning outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dean, Associate Dean, faculty members, and students to ensure high‑quality academic programming and exceptional student experience.

The Student Success and Curriculum Improvement Coordinator supports the success of more than 350 students across the Faculty of Nursing’s Undergraduate programs, working closely with students, Faculty and Clinical Nursing Instructors to enhance student retention, recruitment and curriculum quality. This position also contributes to accreditation, program‑approval, quality improvement requirements by supporting the Dean, Associate Dean, the Vice President Academic and Research’s office and the Registrar’s Office through consultations and the preparation of required reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Academic & Student Success Support – Undergraduate Nursing Programs

Provide front‑line academic advising to undergraduate nursing students, including guidance on program sequence, degree requirements, and course registration via in person/virtual meetings, and email correspondence through the booking system
Ensure compliance with academic regulations and identify issues requiring attention or escalation
Support the Dean and Associate Dean regarding program needs, emerging issues, and opportunities for improvement
Monitor and respond to inquiries received through the Faculty of Nursing Advising email account
Liaise with the Registrar’s Office and other university units regarding course and program matters, including transfer credits and Letters of Permission
Support the Clinical Pre‑Requisite Lead by assisting in tracking, monitoring, and collecting clinical pre‑requisite documentation for all incoming students
Coordinate with the Dean’s Administration, recruitment activities and the development of new student‑focused initiatives including the annual UPEI Open House, school visits, and other recruitment events

Curriculum Improvement:

Support the undergraduate program’s outcomes‑based assessment processes and evidence‑informed curriculum improvement initiatives
Support the designated lead in the undergraduate program’s external professional accreditation review processes
Support the designated lead for the undergraduate program’s external program approval and annual reports conducted by the Prince Edward Island College of Nursing & Midwifery (PEICNM)
Provide administrative support to the Curriculum Committee in fulfilling its mandate
Under the direction of the Curriculum Committee and the designated lead, manage and coordinate ongoing improvement processes, including collecting and maintaining course‑related information; collecting, managing, and analyzing program and assessment data; and preparing outcomes‑based assessment reports
Assist the designated lead in developing best practices for engagement in curriculum improvement, program approval and accreditation activities
Develop and implement best practices for gathering and integrating feedback from students, alumni, external partners, and other stakeholders to inform continual program improvement, program approval and accreditation requirements with guidance from the designated lead
Provide support to the Curriculum Committee to assist with developing and maintaining benchmarks and tools that measure program performance and ensure compliance with continual improvement, program approval, and accreditation standards
Support the designated lead in curriculum mapping and analysis to ensure alignment with required learning outcomes, competencies, and graduate attributes, and to verify the integration of essential core concepts and skills
Upon request, prepare statistical and analytical reports on program learning outcomes, identify areas of concern, and recommend strategies for improvement
Maintain an organized electronic document library for managing all assessment, improvement, and accreditation documentation and evidence

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a post-secondary program in a related office program in a university environment or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
A Bachelor degree in Education or certification in adult education would be considered an asset
Experience supporting students at the post-secondary level is required, particularly in areas related to academic advising, student interactions, and fostering a positive learning environment
Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a demanding environment
Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team, exercising a high degree of judgment and confidentiality
Experience working with diverse cultures or international experience, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by international students
Excellent computer skills with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (including word processing, email, internet searching, spreadsheets, database management) is required
Familiarity with UPEI-specific systems (myUPEI, Colleague, 25 Live) is preferred
Ability to work with minimal supervision and familiarity with a university environment is required
Attention to detail and accuracy is required
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of colleagues, with experience in an academic environment considered an asset
A high degree of judgment and professionalism with a strong understanding of confidentiality
Familiarity with university regulations and policies is an asset
Knowledge of curriculum development and review, learning outcomes and assessment tools would be considered an asset
Experience with quality control, accreditation, and/or outcomes-based assessment processes would be an asset
