Staff Accountant required for VW Chatham
Due to our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced staff accountant to serve in a pivotal role and assist with the delivery of VW Chatham's accounting and administrative functions. The full-time, in-person role is based in Chatham, Ontario and represents an ideal fit for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to get the job done and finding improvements across the business.

The Job: The ideal candidate will have previous Accounting or Bookkeeping experience and the demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate financial activities in a range of settings:
- Payroll activities including semi-monthly payroll processing, employee documentation management, payroll inquiries and fulfillment of statutory requirements
- Cash management and bank reconciliation
- Accounts receivable management
- Vehicle transaction accounting
- Employee benefit program administration
- Preparation of year-end materials for Corporate Team and External Accountants
- Ensure compliance with company and manufacturer policies, directives and procedures.
- Oversight of tax filings, accounting and finance-related activities, and ensure ongoing compliance with CRA obligations.
- Manage special projects at the direction of the Corporate Financial Officer and / or Dealership General Manager
- Other related duties as assigned by Senior Management.
The Qualifications required:
- High School Diploma; Relevant College or University Diploma / Education preferred
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience; automotive, powersports or tractor dealership experience is a big plus!
- Accounting system experience required; knowledge of related in-house dealership computer systems (PBS or similar systems) a significant asset.
- Understanding of key accounting principles and internal control practices.
- Highly Proficient with Word and Excel programs
- Results driven with a customer focus
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- At least 2 shots of COVID-19 vaccine

Pay: $38,689.68-$59,930.48 per year
