Full job description

High Liner Foods is proud to be the leading North American processor and marketer of value-added frozen seafood. We are seeking a Production Supervisor to become the newest member of our Operations team. The position will be based out of our Lunenburg, NS facility

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective management of the production line to ensure high-quality finished products while maintaining safety and quality standards

Accountabilities:

Minimize production costs by utilizing employees, materials and equipment in the safest, most effective and efficient manner.

Responsible for developing direct reports through coaching, effective communication and performance management
Ownership and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimize accidents through organized safety program consisting of safety inspections/follow up, crew briefings, training. Review accidents and ensure corrective actions are put in place.
Operate within the quality management program (QMP) and HACCP as well as Good Manufacturing Practices. (GMP)
Responsible for training new and existing employees in a changing work environment.
Ensure accuracy and timely reporting of hourly payroll for employees and work order process in JDE system.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Grade 12 education or equivalent.
2-4 years of experience in a supervisory role in a unionized environment.
Effective communication skills
Effective coaching skills (leadership, communication, coordination, support).
Very good understanding of processing equipment.
Good computer skills.
A team leader and trainer.
Ability to work cross functionally with others to solve problems in a team environment.
Promote and show commitment to High Liner’s vision, values and guiding principles.
Ability to work both day and evening shifts on a rotation in the future.
