Senior Accounting Manager

Calgary, AB | Full-Time | On-Site

We are a Calgary-based construction company specializing in commercial products and finishes, delivering award‑winning facilities across Alberta. We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead accounting and financial reporting for multiple entities in a fast‑paced construction environment.

This is a full-time, permanent, salaried position based on-site in Calgary, Monday to Friday.

The Role

Reporting to executive leadership, you will oversee full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for five related entities, working with both Percentage of Completion and Completed Contract accounting methods. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and sound judgment. You are a team player and have strong people skills.

Key Responsibilities

Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes (QuickBooks and construction software)
Prepare and review financial statements and supporting working papers
Oversee full-cycle accounting, including capital assets, payroll, and banking
Lead and support the Accounts Payable function, including payment runs and banking administration
Prepare project billings and support accounts receivable collections
Ensure compliance with Canadian regulatory requirements, internal controls, and best practices
Manage GST filings, payroll processing, and statutory remittances
Monitor cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and liquidity
Coordinate year-end compilations and reviews with external accountants
Prepare CRA information returns (T4, T5, T5018)
Maintain construction prequalification platforms
Partner with operations and executive leadership to provide financial insight and decision support
Manage relationships with the bank, accountants, and legal advisors
Administer and manage the employee benefits program

Qualifications

Previous progressive accounting experience (construction experience preferred)
CPA designation strongly preferred
Experience with capital accounting, payroll, cash flow management, and people leadership
Strong Excel skills; experience with construction accounting software an asset
