Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is accepting resumes for an EXPERIENCED Red Seal/ Journeyman Welder for a safety-sensitive position on a rotating schedule within the shop and mine sites in a remote location in Newfoundland and Labrador that is motivated, committed and wants to grow with us.
An excellent Welder will be:
- A strong self-starter
- Enthusiastic team player
- Experienced, competent and able to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy duty equipment in open-pit mining
The people in this position will be expected to work 12 hours per shift, on a 14/14 rotation. This site may run a reduced workforce from December through March.
Accommodations are provided in a camp settings. Flights are available from hub locations.

The Job
- Check dozers, haul trucks, excavators and other heavy construction and mining equipment for proper performance
- Inspect equipment for defects and malfunctions
- Repair and replace defective parts, components and/or systems
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and that it meets or exceeds manufacturer's specifications
- 12-hour shifts
What We Need From YOU:
- A desire to make a difference and take pride in your work
- A minimum of 3 years experience working with large construction and mining open pit equipment
- MUST include in depth experience with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere and Hitachi
- Excellent troubleshooting and technical skills
- Superior welding aptitude
- Shop and/or field work experience
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Collaborative communication style
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A set of mechanic tools required for welding position
- MUST be able to complete a Respirator Fit test and don a mask at any time while at work, which also means compliance with facial hair requirements to ensure a complete seal for the mask
- The ability to work in a remote location
As part of our Hiring Process, YOU will be asked to:
- Provide a minimum of a Class 5 Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract
- Provide a criminal record check
- Complete drug and alcohol screening with a negative result
- Complete a fitness evaluation related specifically to your position
- Provide copies of current certifications (if you do not have any of the training required to be on site, we will provide it for you)
