8 Hour Shifts, days,evenings,nights,weekends Schedule (Subject to Change)

Wage Schedule: $36.840 - $50.240 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performing routine and specialized test procedures in Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank; performing pre-analytical procedures including phlebotomy, specimen management and ECGs; organizing workflow to maintain performance standards of quantity and quality; observing, troubleshooting and reporting problems with methods, equipment to Lab Supervisor; ensuring cleanliness of equipment and immediate work area; following established safety and infection control procedures; participating in student/staff training programs, as required; and performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS);
Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO);
Current theoretical and technical knowledge in Hematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry;
Proven in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships;
Experience and technical knowledge of the electronic and/or mechanical equipment necessary to perform routine and specialized testing;
Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize problems, identify the cause, create alternatives and determine solutions;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to exercise independent judgement, deductive reasoning with attention to detail;
Ability to effectively perform under pressure in emergency situations;
Proven organizational skills with the ability to assess requests and prioritize them to ensure excellent prompt patient care;
Physically capable of performing bending, lifting, turning frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks;
Recent experience in a Core Laboratory, preferred;
Must have a satisfactory performance record;

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service sessions
