Payband: Band J; Starting Rate: $43.61; Four Year Rate: $50.39
Department: Campus Health and Wellness Centre
Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (8:00 am – 4:00 pm)

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Clinic Registered Nurse provides health services to patients through the application of the nursing process. In delivering direct patient care, responsibilities include conducting nursing assessments, performing nursing procedures, providing health education and promotion, administering first aid, and supporting mental health referrals and care as needed. The nurse also assists physicians in the daily delivery of medical care within the clinic, including carrying out orders, preparing patients for examinations and procedures and completing other related administrative tasks. In addition, the nurse provides immunization services and monitors students’ health and immunization records under a medical directive to ensure compliance with legislated and academic program placement requirements.
Clinical Nursing

Provide emergency and non-emergency nursing care to students, staff, contracted employees, and the public through the application of the nursing process.

Conduct nursing assessments, administer and dispense medications, perform nursing procedures and diagnostic tests in accordance with physician orders and medical directives, and provide health education and follow-up guidance.

Support physicians in the daily operation of the medical clinic by preparing patients for examinations and procedures, assisting during procedures, managing specimens and laboratory follow-up, and completing related clinical and administrative tasks.

Act as a liaison and resource regarding Public Health matters and infection prevention and control practices.
Health Services Administration

Maintain health records in compliance with professional, privacy, and legislated standards.
Coordinate immunization and disease surveillance requirements for student placements, including reviewing and monitoring compliance documentation. -
Maintain vaccines, medical supplies, and clinic equipment in accordance with quality assurance and infection control standards.

Support student learning by acting as a preceptor for nursing students.
Health Education and Promotion

Promote health education, disease prevention, and self-care through individual client interactions, presentations, campus initiatives, and outreach activities.

Facilitate referrals and connections to campus and community health resources.

Participate in campus committees and professional organizations related to student health and wellness.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

A minimum of a four-year Bachelors of Science Nursing or Bachelors of Nursing degree is required.

Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) from a recognized School of Nursing and be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Current certification in CPR and AED use.

A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience as a registered nurse.

Will have experience adapting nursing practise to operate independently with a variety of health issues in diverse circumstances.

Experience providing nursing services to clients from a range of educational and cultural backgrounds.

Able to work independently within a multidisciplinary team environment, prioritizing and organizing own work.

Must be comfortable with utilizing electronic medical records, email etc.

Occasional heavy lifting (over 44 lb) is required.
