Position Overview
Art With a Heart is looking for a dedicated and organized Account Assistant to join our summer programming team for an 8-week contract. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with the Program Manager, and the bookkeeper to ensure financial processes run smoothly and efficiently throughout the summer season.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for summer programs and staff.
- Process payroll for summer staff, ensuring all payments are made in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Track program-related expenses, ensuring all costs are documented and accounted for.
- Manage invoices and process payments to vendors and contractors.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare financial reports, summaries, and budget updates for the leadership team.
- Assist with preparing year-end financial reports as necessary.
- Work closely with the Accountant Assistant to ensure financial processes are efficient and accurate.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure proper coding and allocation of expenses.
- Ensure all financial records comply with organizational and legal standards.
- Conduct regular audits of financial records and transactions to ensure accuracy.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in a non-profit or community organization setting.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing and financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the leadership team and other departments.
- Knowledge of financial policies and procedures in a non-profit setting is an asset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.

This is a Government of Canada funded job through the Canada Summer Jobs program. The Applicant must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protections Act [S.C. 2001, c.27]; and is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
