Hours: 4:30pm to 3:00am (with one 30 minute dinner break) Monday to Thursday
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Amada Fiber Laser Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating fiber laser cutting machines, understanding laser programming, and ensuring precision in cutting various materials. This position requires expertise in CNC programming, material optimization, and troubleshooting to maintain high production efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Laser Machine Operation & Setup
- Operate and maintain fiber laser cutting machines.
- Set up laser cutting machines, including adjusting parameters for different materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel etc.)
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper alignment and positioning for cutting.
- Perform quality inspections on finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
Programming & Optimization
- Create, modify, and troubleshoot laser cutting programs.
- Optimize cutting paths, nesting, and material usage to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Adjust laser settings such as speed, power, and frequency to optimize cut quality for different materials and thicknesses.
- Work with engineering and production teams to implement process improvements and design changes.
Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laser cutting machines, including lens cleaning, alignment, and nozzle replacement.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to machine errors, material inconsistencies, and programming issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures while operating and maintaining equipment.
Quality Control & Process Improvement
- Conduct inspections to ensure cut parts meet customer specifications and tolerances.
- Maintain accurate records of production, machine settings, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve workflow, efficiency, and product quality.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience operating fiber laser cutting machines in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong understanding of materials, cutting speeds, power settings, and machine operations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of machine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in cutting processes.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Good communication skills in English and ability to work with engineers, operators, and quality inspectors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Amada fiber laser cutting machines.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
- Forklift or overhead crane operation experience is a plus.
