Our client is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Manager for their Pickering, ON office. This posting is for an existing vacancy for which they are actively recruiting. Responsibilities:
Technical supervision of design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems- Oversee planning, execution and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are on time and within scope
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize tasks
- Monitor Progress, identify risks and implement strategies
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of engineers, fostering professional growth and career development
- Set clear goals and expectations, conducting regular performance reviews and feedback sessions
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high performing team culture
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Drive continuous improvement within the engineering team
- Define and refine engineering processes to improve efficiency and quality
- Uses initiative and judgement in resolving problems, interprets engineering specifications, obtaining and analyzing data and design
- Work closely with business leaders to align engineering initiatives with organizational objectives
- Solve problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
Qualifications:
Completion of a four-year University Degree in Mechanical Engineering- 10+ years of related working experience in a design consulting environment is considered an asset, ideally with 2-3 years in a leadership role
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario
- Must be able to obtain a federal security clearance
- Ability to balance hands-on technical contributions with leader responsibilities
- Should be able and willing to occasionally travel to other office locations and client sites/locations as required
- Work experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a nuclear environment
- Specific knowledge in piping, and specifically alloyed piping in terms of definition, specification, calculation, sourcing, prefabrication and assembly will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of related disciplines, i.e. Civil/Structural, Electrical and Instrumentation/Controls is required
- Demonstrate ability to be flexible, adaptable and work under tight schedules in a fast-paced environment
