Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, Strategy & Innovation, the Manager, Collections & Resources will oversee the selection, processing and delivery of collections in all formats, including physical and electronic materials. The Manager achieves strategic library collection & resource alignment with community needs; expands the reach and relevance of print, digital, and special collections to ensure active engagement with members.
The Manager, Collections & Resources leads a cross-functional team dedicated to upholding organizational collection standards. The Manager analyzes circulation trends to ensure a dynamic collection that meets community needs, manages automatic release plans, and fosters strong vendor relationships. Additionally, they leverage knowledge of industry trends and best practices to maximize collection usage and optimize budgetary resources. The Manager is also responsible for managing day-to-day service operations at a library location.
Working Conditions:
Salary Range: $87,840 to 106,771 annually (2026 rate)
Status: Non-Affiliated, Regular Full-Time
Schedule: 35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as required

Position Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains the quality of collections in all formats
- Leads and supervises the life cycle of the collection development process, including acquisition, processing, inventory, and de-selection
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with vendors and negotiates best deals and licenses directly or with consortia and library or municipal buying groups
- Provides oversight and management of the core functionalities of the Integrated Library System (ILS): the electronic database management system that electronically manages member accounts, library material records, the online catalogue, and mobile applications
- Develops and manages budgets for areas of responsibility
- Collaboratively works with staff to stay abreast of community needs, addresses new and emerging trends in collection and resource development.
- Provides staff training and oversight in collaboration
- Lead change management initiatives and foster an inclusive, high-performing workplace culture
- Expected to work as part of a collaborative leadership team and contribute overall to the organization’s strategic plan/priorities
- Participates in library facility management
- Represent CLMA at municipal and professional forums, preparing executive-level reports and presentations to inform decision-making
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and health and safety requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of organizational objectives
Essential Qualifications:
- Master of Library/Information Science Degree from an ALA accredited program
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience in libraries, with an emphasis on collections and resources
- Demonstrated expertise in staff leadership and supervision in a unionized environment, and fostering effective communication
- Excellent knowledge of Integrated Library Systems (ILS), cataloguing standards, best practices for collection management
- Knowledge of SirsiDynix Symphony an asset
- An innovator with experience identifying and capitalizing on opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills with the ability to network and develop community partnerships
- Excellent organizational and time management skills. Able to manage shifting priorities in a busy environment with frequent interruptions and a proven ability to work to deadlines and set priorities
- Excellent English language oral, written, and presentation skills including the ability to teach and present to community groups. Knowledge of other languages are an asset
- Comfort with risk, failure, and ambiguity as well as the skills to mitigate risk
- Strong knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians Disability Act and the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Ability to travel between locations
- A satisfactory, Standard Criminal Record Check is required prior to commencement of employment
