About the Role
Technica Mining is seeking a Drilling & Blasting Superintendent to join our growing surface mining team. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead and oversee drilling and blasting projects within surface mining environments, ensuring all operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and corporate standards. You will be accountable for costs, productivity, safety, environmental compliance, and the development of your team.
The key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead the planning and execution of drilling and blasting programs to meet project objectives safely and cost-effectively.

Develop and implement drill and blast designs, patterns, and procedures tailored to site-specific conditions.

Monitor and optimize blast outcomes, including fragmentation, muck pile profiles, and vibration control.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and site-specific blasting procedures.

Ensure safety incidents are investigated, notification protocols are followed, and corrective actions are implemented.

Develop direct reports and foster a strong team culture aligned with company goals.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of surface mining experience with 5+ years in a supervisory role overseeing drilling and blasting operations.

In-depth knowledge of drill and blast techniques, explosive products, equipment, and regulatory requirements.

Experience with blast design software and monitoring of blast performance metrics.

Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.

Strong safety mindset; field-oriented and able to work in open pit mining environments.

Working knowledge of earthworks operations, including load and haul of blasted materials, and crushing.

Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean abstract; mine engineering degree an asset.
