JOB SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of duties and responsibilities as outlined below in accordance with AGS' cultural priorities.

BASIC FUNCTION
Supervise a production and quality shift.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Supervise a staff employed in the department's function relative to the company's chrome plating manufacturing process, in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements for a safe working environment.

Plan, assign, and direct shift staff and activities for safe work practices to meet production demands. Manage performance issues, identify training needs, and arrange for upgrading.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, plant rules, and legislative obligations. Carry out timely disciplinary processes and resolve complaints and problems.
- Administer the collective agreement and company policies as they apply to activities on shift. Develop good working relationships with union and safety representatives, respond to their concerns, and resolve disputes including grievances.

Ensure accurate and timely records and documentation is maintained.

Attend meetings as required.
Supervise production and quality activities.

Review and analyze production plans, logs, quality assurance data, equipment and material status, and manpower requirements.

Schedule and assign shift activities to meet production demands. Monitor conformance to specifications and make adjustments as necessary.

Coordinate shift activities with other departments to meet workflow demands and production capability.
- Identify the root cause of problems and implement, or work with others to implement corrective action.

Maintain awareness of manufacturing objectives, changes, programs, and experience. Make recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of products, and working conditions.
- Take immediate action in emergency situations, protecting people and plant, and minimizing financial consequences.

Contribute to decision-making processes and keep management informed.

Maintain up-to-date and accurate manual and computerized records.

Maintain, review, and analyze internal company Quality Data and (where appropriate) create charts / graphs of Quality Assurance data for (when requested) distribution

Identify problems identified by the Alert System and work with others (as necessary) to complete Root Cause Analysis and Corrective / Preventive Action including implementation (where required).
Take responsibility as a competent person UNDER Section 27 of the OHSA for the safety and well-being of employees on shift.
Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. Ensure that employees receive appropriate training, and they wear appropriate PPE using additional safety equipment when required and follow safe work procedures and practices. Carry out workplace inspections such as layered audits, JHSC safety inspections, etc. Report unsafe conditions or equipment, correcting substandard acts or conditions.

Respond to incidents, arrange for first aid, and take precautions to avoid further injury or impact. Follow procedures for accident investigation and reporting. Cooperate with internal and external contacts.

Conduct information sessions such as safety talks, tail gate meetings, and participate in other forms of staff meetings.

Work with first aiders and other staff to ensure proper treatment and accommodation for employees with medical issues or disabilities.

Oversee the general safety of the people and plant. Observe and monitor employee safety and provide H&S feedback to employees and supervisors.
Perform any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned.
SKILL
Secondary school education in an appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3 – 5 years of manufacturing experience.

1 year of quality experience.

Supervisory experience in a union environment.

Good judgement, problem solving, decision-making.

EFFORT
Occasional periods of mental and visual concentration during computer and analysis work.

Frequent listening and mental attentiveness in dealing with process demands and supervising people.

Mental effort required in multi-tasking and handling interruptions that require constant refocusing.

Requires frequent walking and climbing stairs throughout the plant.
RESPONSIBILITY
Supervises a staff of direct reports in a union environment.

Coordination of workflow, resources, training, safety, and quality of work during the shift.

Responsible for manpower and resources on shift in a large plating process facility with rotating shifts and complex systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is carried out in a typical industrial environment with frequent visits throughout the shop floor.

Requires wearing personal protective equipment (eg, safety footwear, hearing protection, safety glasses).

Requires changing shifts and working additional hours when the need arises. Short notice and time pressures.
