Full job description

Durham Psychotherapy is seeking a compassionate, clinically strong, and culturally responsive Registered Social Worker or Psychotherapist to provide individual, couples, and/or family therapy in Pickering and virtually across Ontario.

We are especially looking to strengthen access to therapy for Black men, women, boys, girls, couples, and families, including clients of Caribbean and African cultural backgrounds. Many of the clients we hope to better serve are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, racial stress, identity, intergenerational family dynamics, relationships, parenting, school stress, masculinity, womanhood, emotional regulation, and life transitions.

This role involves delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based care while fostering resilience, emotional wellness, and culturally grounded healing. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of racial, cultural, family, and systemic dynamics, demonstrate sensitivity to diverse lived experiences, and be committed to anti-oppressive and equitable mental health care.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or a related mental health field.

Registration in good standing with one of the following Ontario regulatory colleges:

Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers — Registered Social Worker, RSW
College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario — Registered Psychotherapist, RP, or Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying, RP(Q)

Professional liability insurance.

Training and experience providing psychotherapy.

Ability to provide therapy legally, ethically, and competently within your professional scope of practice.

Experience providing individual therapy is required.

Experience providing couples and/or family therapy is an asset.

Experience working with children, teens, adults, couples, or families is an asset.

Strong cultural responsiveness and commitment to anti-oppressive, trauma-informed care.

Experience supporting Black, African, Caribbean, racialized, newcomer, first-generation, or underserved communities is highly valued.

Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, documentation skills, and ability to build trust with diverse clients.

Ability to work independently while participating in a collaborative clinic environment.

Evening, weekend, or in-person availability in Pickering is an asset.

Pay: $95.00-$104.50 per hour
