About the Role
Reporting to the HR/LR Manager, the HR Generalist will be responsible for both general Human Resources and Labour Relations functions including but not limited to disability management, conducting investigations, handling unionized employee grievances, managing ADP administration, and supporting the team with a variety of projects.
This is a full-time position out of our Oshawa site located in the General Motors facility.

Compensation
-
$80,000 - $90,000 per year.
Schedule
-
Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00PM, hours may vary based on business needs.
Responsibilities
-
Conduct workplace investigations relating to employee complaints, policy violations, attendance concerns, workplace incidents, and other employee relations matters;

Gather, analyze, and document evidence, witness statements, investigation findings, and prepare detailed investigation reports while maintaining confidentiality and procedural fairness;

Prepare disciplinary documentation, grievance responses, meeting notes, employment letters, correspondence, and other labour relations and Human Resources documents;
-
Administer labour relations processes including grievance tracking, internal job postings, seniority list maintenance, labour-management meetings, and the interpretation and application of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) provisions;

Support management with employee relations matters, policy interpretation, performance management, workplace conflict resolution, and corrective action processes;

Coordinate and schedule investigations, grievance meetings, labour-management meetings, and other Human Resources activities while ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up;

Maintain accurate employee, labour relations, grievance, investigation, attendance, and ADP records while ensuring compliance with company policies, collective agreements, and applicable legislation;

Audit and maintain employee files, departmental trackers, and labour relations documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance;

Provide administrative support for labour relations, human resources, and compliance-related initiatives;

Ensure compliance with employment legislation, privacy requirements, collective agreements, and company policies;

Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a unionized environment;

Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and preparing detailed written reports;

Strong understanding of collective agreements, job posting processes, seniority administration, grievance procedures, and progressive discipline principles;

Experience using ADP and maintaining employee records within an HRIS environment;

Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar) and Microsoft Office applications;

Exceptional written communication and documentation skills with strong attention to detail;

Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;

Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion;

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business Administration, or a related discipline;
-
CHRP, CHRL, workplace investigation training, or experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or service environment is considered an asset.
