About Roughley
Roughley Insurance Brokers Ltd. is an independent, family-owned brokerage that has been serving Durham Region since 1945. Now in its third generation and still growing, we have access to all major insurance markets. We believe our people are our greatest strength, and this role is built to develop our next one.
About the Program
This is not a typical entry-level insurance job. Our Broker Accelerator is a structured one-year path from the ground floor to a selling role. You'll start by learning the operational side of the business alongside our personal and commercial teams, earn your RIBO license, and work toward selling personal insurance and small-to-medium enterprise commercial insurance, including individually rated commercial auto (IRCA), with the opportunity to build a book of business.
Year One: How It Works

From day one:

Learn the business from the inside: policy processing, endorsements, and renewals in our broker management system (Applied EPIC)
Assist with certificate of insurance (COI) requests, billing, and payment inquiries
Prepare and organize documentation for market submissions
Support our account managers and processing team on active client files
Build your foundation in personal and commercial coverage across a wide range of industries

Once RIBO licensed:

Take on direct client contact, including renewal reviews, coverage questions, and service requests
Begin quoting and supporting new business development
Work on larger accounts alongside senior brokers

What We're Looking For

Post-secondary education
Driven to build a long-term career in insurance
A self-starter who takes ownership of their work
Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confident with technology, including AI tools, and quick to pick up new systems
A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment

No prior insurance experience is required. This role suits someone early in their career or a career changer with strong transferable skills and a sales mindset.

Licensing
You must obtain your RIBO (Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario) licence within 1 year of hire. Roughley covers the full cost of licensing courses and exam fees, and provides study time and support throughout.
Compensation and What We Offer

$40,000 to $50,000 base salary to start, based on experience
Commission-earning opportunity once RIBO licensed and approved to move into the selling role
Full training and mentorship from experienced brokers
RIBO licensing fully paid by the brokerage
Hybrid work arrangement based out of our Oshawa office
