Durham Bone & Joint Specialists (DBJS) is a leading orthopaedic clinic dedicated to delivering high-quality musculoskeletal care through evidence-based practice, patient education, and a collaborative team environment.
We are seeking an Orthopaedic Bracing Specialist to support patients undergoing conservative and surgical orthopaedic treatment. In this role, you will work closely with Orthopaedic Surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers to help patients access and properly use orthopaedic braces and support products that improve comfort, stability, and recovery.
This position is well suited for individuals who enjoy working directly with patients and contributing to positive treatment outcomes while gaining valuable experience in musculoskeletal care and orthopaedic treatment pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Working under the direction of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers, the Orthopaedic Bracing Specialist will:
- Assess patient needs and assist in identifying appropriate orthopaedic bracing and support products based on physician treatment plans
- Fit and adjust prefabricated orthopaedic braces such as knee braces, ankle supports, wrist braces, and compression garments
- Educate patients on proper brace application, use, and care to support recovery and treatment goals
- Document patient fittings and product recommendations within the clinic’s electronic medical record system
- Communicate with patients regarding product options, insurance coverage, and payment processes in a clear and supportive manner
- Assist with insurance documentation and billing requirements where applicable
- Maintain organized inventory and coordinate with orthopaedic product vendors
- Support a professional and patient-centered clinical environment
Qualifications
Ideal candidates may have:
- Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Sciences, Athletic Therapy, Health Sciences, Physiotherapy Assistant programs, or a related healthcare field
- Experience working in a sports medicine clinic, physiotherapy clinic, orthopaedic practice, rehabilitation facility, or similar healthcare setting
- Knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and injury management
- Experience working with orthopaedic braces, supports, or rehabilitation equipment
- Strong communication and patient education skills
- Comfort discussing product pricing, insurance coverage, and payment processes professionally and confidently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment
Training on DBJS clinical workflows and orthopaedic bracing products will be provided.
