Loader Operator
United Ready Mix is a rapidly growing ready-mix concrete company supplying concrete across the Greater Toronto Area. We are focused on supplying quality concrete, safely and on time at competitive prices.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Loader Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the front-end loader to safely and efficiently manage aggregates and raw materials required in the production of ready-mix concrete. This role ensures that the appropriate materials are ordered to support the scheduled concrete production, are loaded accurately into the batch plant hoppers, stockpiles are maintained, and the required yard duties are performed in compliance with company’s safety, quality and environmental standards.
Locations: Freshway Drive, Concord
Hours of Operations: 6am to 6pm (plus potential night and weekend shifts)
Wage rate: $25-$27 per hour
(Based on qualifications, experience and relevant skills)
Key Responsibilities:
Front-end Loader Operation:
· Perform daily pre and post shift inspections, basic maintenance and fueling.
· Safely transport and load aggregates (sand, gravel, limestone, etc.) into plant hoppers.
· Maintain proper aggregate stockpile management, ensuring area is clean, and there are no material contamination and segregation.
Plant Operations Support:
· Working with the Plant Manager and Dispatcher, coordinate daily activities and manage material inventory to support production requirements.
· Assist in preparation and loading of concrete additives.
· Assist in boiler operation to maintain aggregate, water and plant heating.
· Assist with general plant maintenance, cleanup, concrete blocks and housekeeping duties.
· Communicate effectively with operations staff and drivers to support efficient operations.
Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, and Environmental:
· Follow company QA, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and report any deficiencies ASAP.
· Perform and document daily inspections, routine maintenance and report ASAP as per company policies and procedures.
· Ensure safe loading practices around trucks, stockpiles, and plant equipment.
· Ensure that all chemicals and materials are stored and handled in a safe and efficient manner as per MSDS standards and the company policies.
· Report workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents which may involve personal injury or property damage as per company policies and procedures.
Qualification Requirements:
· >2 years front-end loader experience.
· Able to perform heavy lifting >25kg.
· Able work both inside and outside, in the heat and cold, and around moving equipment, and at heights above four (4) feet.
· Be able to work irregular hours such as nights and weekend work.
