Full job description

Cellula is looking for a Project Manager to join our team and support product development programs and lead product delivery projects.

Cellula Robotics Ltd. is a world-leading marine technology company focused on changing the paradigm of subsea survey, science and security through modular, long range, autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) systems. Our company is growing and is transitioning from building mostly one-of-a-kind prototypes to completing the development of our four core products and will be delivering multiples of those products to our customers. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for all stages of the project from kickoff to project closing. The project team is drawn from engineering and other departments within Cellula. Your role is to lead the project, as part of one of the product’s programs, and ensure both client and internal requirements are met. You will be the primary customer point of contact during the project and will have the opportunities to travel internationally to oversee testing and to ensure customer satisfaction.

This position is primarily an on-site position with some limited flexibility for remote work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate your multi-disciplinary project team of engineers, developers, and technicians to deliver the project. This role is technically focused, but its most valuable skills are interpersonal – supporting your team in doing great work.
Developing and managing project schedules, budgets, requirements matrices, estimates, and resource plans
Drive internal teams to deliver the project to customers on schedule and within scope
Regularly prepare and present reports on project progress to key internal & external stakeholders
Anticipate project challenges early and proactively devise risk mitigation strategies
Evaluate project deliverable changes, and determine their impact on related and interdependent tasks & projects
Perform analysis of schedule, regarding resources, deliveries, budgets, and task completion.
Focus efforts on being present with your team, solving problems, getting designs finished, built, and functioning successfully

Expected Traits

Leadership – Lead from the front. Be next to the hardware – proximity to the equipment, robot, AUV, etc. is mandatory. Lead by example and mentor the team.
Proactiveness – Be 10 steps ahead of everyone else. Know what’s next.
Ownership – Feel personally accountable for success.
Decision making – Good judgement. Understand the project so you can make decisions, make trade-offs, and negotiate with client & internal stakeholders.
Success – Producing high quality results on time. Ensuring the results meet or exceed client expectations.
Problem solving – Solve problems that are hurting scope, schedule, and budget.

Required Skills & Experience

Legally eligible to work in Canada and eligible for Government of Canada security screening
Excellent written & verbal communication skills and leadership skills
Proactive and consultative management style
Strong problem identification and solving skills
Minimum 7 years of experience working with multi-discipline engineering teams
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager with robotics, subsea, or similar industry
Advanced skills working with project reports, schedules and budgets

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience with electro-mechanical systems integration
Experience with autonomous robotics, underwater or maritime systems
Experience working in ISO 9001 quality system organization
Experience developing business cases
Boating skills and knowledge
Acoustic payload knowledge (sonars, survey, hydrographic, sonobuoys)
PMP or PEng certification
