Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) is an acute care hospital located in Cornwall, Ontario along the scenic St. Lawrence River. CCH provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services to a catchment area of 100,000 people from the communities of Cornwall, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and to the Mohawk community of Akwesasne.
With 186 beds, 1320 employees and 180 physicians, CCH offers a wide range of care and services. These include emergency, surgical, medicine and rehabilitation services, mental health and addiction programs as well as a family birthing centre.

Summary of responsibilities

As a specialist in social work the incumbent will provide comprehensive care to sexually assaulted persons and victims of intimate partner violence as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care.

Requirements of the job

Master’s Degree in Social Work
Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
Minimum of 3 years’ experience and demonstrated expertise in trauma, dissociation and the symptomatology related to sexual assault and intimate partner violence or relative experience
Demonstrated case management experience
Valid driver's license and access to own transportation
Proven ability to manage crisis situations
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop a community network
Ability to work independently
Strong written and communication skills
Good computer skills
Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
Demonstrated commitment to patient safety

Assets:

Certified in non-violent crisis intervention
Experience in criminal court
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Trained
Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French – and testing completed)
