Immediate Opening for a proven high-caliber field welder who thrives on varied, challenging mobile work. No production line. No same weld twice. Just real field jobs on marine vessels, industrial sites, and mostly in the Richmond area.
What HBCL Wants From You Layout, fit, and weld in all positions on carbon steel, stainless (often new material to old), aluminum and other materials
Choose your own process (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW) and dial in your rig
Create field sketches, perform take-offs, disassemble/reassemble marine systems, hydraulics, conveyors, pumps and heavy equipment
Emergency repairs, structural work, and custom fabrication
Occasional tank work — where you may need to fit through a 17" x 14" oval manhole after we cap off the ceiling.
Work in tight spaces, heights, rain, and all weather conditions
We are hiring someone with: Red Seal Welder, BC ITA, or strong Level 3 ready to challenge.
Real Field Experience is more essential than certificates without experience.
Elite fitting skills — you build from scratch, not just fill joints
Proven field experience (marine hull repairs, afloat fixes, heavy equipment, structural, or emergency work)
Strong mechanical aptitude and MacGyver-style problem solving
Valid Class 5 DL (Class 1 or 3 is a plus)
Supervisor experience welcomed — planning jobs, leading small crews, client liaison, while still welding yourself
