Position Title: Executive Director
Organization: South Peace Art Society (SPAS) – Dawson Creek Art Gallery
Location: Dawson Creek, BC.
Salary: $46,500 to $54,000 per year
Hours: 30 -35 hours per week
Vacation: Two weeks of paid annual leave

About Us:
The Dawson Creek Art Gallery is seeking an Executive Director to lead our organization and support the artists of the South Peace with visionary leadership and strategic direction. This is an exciting chance to make a significant impact in the arts community, to work closely with artists, educators, children, members, community partners, and the Board of Directors of the Dawson Creek Art Gallery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Strategy: Guide SPAS with strategic vision and alignment with our mission.
2. Operations: Manage daily operations, cover gallery reception when required, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance.
3. Financial Management: Develop and oversee budgets, grant applications and management, financial operations, and fundraising efforts. Knowledge of Sage Accounting would be an asset.
4. Program Development: Lead the planning and execution of diverse and inclusive programs.
5. Community Relations: Act as the primary spokesperson, fostering community partnerships and advocacy.
6. Board Support: Collaborate with the Board on governance and strategic initiatives.
7. HR Management: Supervise and support staff, ensuring a collaborative work environment.
8. Marketing & Communications: Enhance visibility and engagement through strategic marketing.
9. Facility Management: Ensure the gallery is well-maintained and accessible, ensure that optimal and efficient technology solutions are employed to the success of the gallery.
10. Fundraising: Develop and execute fundraising plans, including donor cultivation and event planning.
11. Artist Support: Foster professional growth opportunities for regional artists.
12. Advocacy: Represent the arts and cultural sector within the community and to government bodies.
Qualities / Qualifications / Experience:
· At least 5 years of experience in administration within the not-for-profit sector preferably
with a museum, arts and/or culture related organization; or equivalent combination of
education and experience;
· At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity and experienced in human
resources management;
Experience with event planning and grant writing;
· Competence in financial management and budget processes;
· Experience in working directly for a volunteer Board of Directors and enthusiasm to work
within this organization’s vision, values and policies;
· Passion for art and culture;
· Proven qualities of team leadership, marketing and communications, fund-raising;
· Energetic, an innovative thinker with proven ability to develop and initiate new projects /
programs and work under pressure;
· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications / presentation and
organizational skills; ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects within varying
deadlines; and
· Successful completion of a clean Criminal Record Check (CRC) for vulnerable persons.
