About Foxfab Power Solutions
Foxfab Power Solutions is a growing manufacturer of custom electrical power distribution equipment, including switchboards, automatic transfer switches, generator docking stations, load bank docking stations, UPS bypass equipment, and other critical-power products.
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support our engineering and production teams. This position will be responsible for preparing accurate and efficient CNC programs for sheet-metal components used in custom and repeat electrical equipment assemblies.
Position Summary
The CNC Programmer will convert engineering drawings and 3D models into production-ready CNC programs, nesting layouts, and manufacturing documentation.
The successful candidate will work closely with mechanical designers, production coordinators, machine operators, and the fabrication team to ensure parts are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and according to production schedules.
The ideal candidate has at least seven years of relevant CNC programming experience in a sheet-metal, electrical enclosure, industrial equipment, or similar manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, review, and optimize CNC programs for sheet-metal punching, laser cutting, bending, and related fabrication processes.
- Convert engineering drawings, DXF files, and 3D models into accurate production-ready programs.
- Develop efficient nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
- Review drawings and models for manufacturability before releasing parts to production.
- Verify material type, thickness, tooling, bend allowances, dimensions, quantities, and revision levels.
- Prepare clear setup sheets, cut lists, part identification information, and production documentation.
- Maintain organized CNC program files, revision histories, and standard manufacturing libraries.
- Support machine operators with program questions, setup issues, tooling requirements, and troubleshooting.
- Identify programming or design issues before they result in production delays, rework, or material waste.
- Work with mechanical engineering to improve designs for manufacturing, assembly, and repeatability.
- Help standardize common parts, enclosure designs, tooling strategies, and programming methods.
- Optimize programs to improve machine cycle times, material yield, quality, and overall production flow.
- Assist with prototype, custom, repeat, and engineered-to-order products.
- Review completed parts and production feedback to continuously improve programming accuracy.
- Ensure released programs match the latest approved engineering revisions.
- Coordinate programming priorities with regular production schedules and required completion dates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the fabrication department.
- Follow all company quality, safety, and documentation procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum seven years of relevant CNC programming experience.
- Experience programming CNC equipment used in sheet-metal fabrication.
- Strong understanding of sheet-metal manufacturing processes, including punching, laser cutting, forming, bending, and hardware installation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and dimensional tolerances.
- Experience working with DXF, DWG, or similar manufacturing file formats.
- Strong understanding of nesting, material utilization, tooling selection, bend allowances, and manufacturing tolerances.
- Ability to recognize design or programming issues before parts are released to production.
- Ability to organize programming work around production schedules and changing manufacturing priorities.
- Strong computer, organizational, and file-management skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, quality control, and machine operators.
Preferred Qualifications
- SolidWorks experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with electrical enclosures, switchgear, switchboards, control panels, or other electrical equipment is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in an engineered-to-order or high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience programming turret punches, fiber lasers, press brakes, or automated sheet-metal equipment.
- Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Experience creating and maintaining standard part and tooling libraries.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or material-cost reduction initiatives.
