Full job description

About the Role

We are looking for an energetic, reliable, and detail-oriented Kitchen Prep Cook to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for early morning food preparation, crafting fresh salads and sandwiches, and assisting with hot food items such as soups, gravies, and sauces to ensure our kitchen runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Morning Prep & Production: Prepare fresh salads, sandwiches, cold food items, and grab-and-go options according to cafe standards.
Hot Food Support: Assist in preparing and cooking hot prep items, including soups, gravies, sauces, and hot line support.
Ingredient Preparation: Vegetable chopping, meat/cheese slicing, batch prepping, and portioning ingredients (strong knife skills required).
Food Quality & Safety: Ensure all food safety, temperature logs, and sanitation guidelines (AHS standards) are strictly followed.
Stock & Inventory: Monitor ingredient levels, rotate stock using FIFO principles, and maintain an organized prep area.
Workplace Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation throughout the shift.

Qualifications & Requirements

Previous kitchen, prep cook, or food assembly experience is preferred.
Strong knife skills and basic knowledge of both hot and cold prep techniques.
Ability to work efficiently and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment.
Availability to work early morning shifts.
Food Safety Certificate is an asset (or willingness to obtain one; company assistance available).
Must have reliable transportation (limited public transit options in Drumheller).
