Full job description

The Opportunity

We're a small and growing team, and we're looking for an experienced Lead Hand who knows gutters inside and out!

You'll lead a small installation crew, work alongside the team, and make sure every job is completed safely, efficiently, and to Gutter King's standards. You'll be the person on site who can look at a challenging property, figure out the best way to tackle it, and keep things moving.

This is a great opportunity to join Gutter King at an exciting stage of growth. You'll have the chance to be part of a close-knit team, take on real responsibility, and help shape how we work as the business continues to grow.

Your Day-to-Day

Lead the job from start to finish, keeping the crew organized, the work moving, and the job on track
Lead and work alongside Journeymen and Labourers, making sure everyone has the tools, materials, and direction they need
Figure out the best approach for each installation, including custom and challenging projects, and troubleshoot problems as they come up
Keep an eye on quality and make sure the finished work meets Gutter King’s standards
Work directly with customers, answer questions, confirm project details, and keep the owner and team informed of any changes or issues
Make sure the crew, truck, tools, equipment, and job site are safe, clean, organized, and ready for the next job

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with the experience and judgment to make good decisions, solve problems on the fly, communicate confidently and professionally with customers, and know when an issue needs to be escalated.

You bring:

5+ years of gutter installation experience, including significant experience with custom and complex installations
Strong technical knowledge of gutter installation methods, materials, and job-site requirements
The ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound decisions independently
Experience leading a small crew and providing direction to less experienced team members
Strong communication and customer service skills
A mature, dependable, and responsible approach to work
A high standard for quality and attention to detail
A valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record
Current fall protection and/or applicable safety certifications
The ability to comfortably work at heights, on ladders, and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Since 2015, Gutter King has been keeping homes and buildings across Vancouver Island protected from the elements. We install gutters, gutter guards, downspouts, soffit, and Alu-Rex products for homeowners, renovators, contractors, and commercial clients from Nanaimo to Victoria.
