Full job description

1948 Bar & Bistro is looking for a confident, hardworking Line Cook to join our kitchen team.

We're a busy, seafood-forward waterfront restaurant in Ladysmith, serving guests seven days a week during our busy season. We're looking for someone who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in their food, and knows how to work as part of a team during a busy service.

If you already know your way around a professional hot line and can jump into service with confidence, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

Work the hot line during busy dinner service
Work across stations including sauté, grill and fry
Execute menu items consistently and efficiently
Read and manage tickets while maintaining timing and communication
Prepare and plate food to our standards
Complete daily prep and maintain proper station organization
Follow recipes, portioning and food-safety standards
Communicate clearly with the Chef and kitchen team
Keep your station clean, stocked and organized
Assist with opening, closing and general kitchen duties
Jump in and support the team wherever needed

What We're Looking For

You don't need to know our menu on day one — we'll teach you that.

We do need you to already have experience working on a professional restaurant line.

You should be:

Experienced working in a professional restaurant kitchen
Comfortable working a busy hot line
Confident on sauté, grill and/or fry
Strong with a knife and basic kitchen preparation
Able to manage multiple tickets and maintain timing during service
Reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team
Comfortable taking direction while also being able to work independently
FoodSafe certified, or willing to obtain certification

The Schedule

This is a full-time evening position, primarily focused on dinner service.

We are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent full-time schedule and is available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

We are looking to fill this position immediately.

This position requires previous professional line-cook experience. If you've worked a busy restaurant line and are confident stepping into service, we want to hear from you.

If you're newer to the industry and looking for your first line-cook position, this particular role may not be the right fit — but we may have other opportunities available.

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
