About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Paint, Housewares, and Decor Sales Associate to join our retail team. This role involves engaging with customers to provide expert advice on paint products, housewares, and decorative items, while delivering exceptional service that enhances the shopping experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for home improvement and design, and experience in sales or customer service environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant retail setting where creativity and organizational skills are essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet customers with a welcoming acknowledgement.
Maintain regular contact with existing customer base.
Provide advice and service to customers in paint, housewares and décor.
Recommend appropriate products that will meet customer’s needs.
Mix and prepare paint.
Be on a constant lookout for new opportunities.
Ongoing support of new inventory SKU’s including additions and deletions.
Support new product lines.
On request order inventory on a regular basis (weekly).
Able to take direction from Department Manager.
Merchandize Paint and Housewares retail area.
Install end caps and rotate displays.
Process sales through Point of Sale system.
Complete sales transactions through cash, debit and credit.
Process E-Commerce and Purolator orders
Answer phones and direct calls over PA system
Prepare store for opening at beginning of day
Close and reconcile tills at end of day
When requested attended training seminars and Home Hardware semi-annual markets.
Project a “helpful” image to the customers.
Treat customers as “you” would like to be treated.
Have the flexibility to work in any other temporary assignment as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum two (2) years’ experience.
Be able to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing retail environment.
Be available to work 2 Saturdays per month as well as evenings.
Have experience in colour trends /paint applications and advising regarding these.
Knowledge of preparing surfaces for paint, stain, wallpaper etc.
Knowledge in primers, paints, stains and fine stains.
Knowledgeable with all paint products and techniques.
Familiar with housewares and cleaning supplies.
Organizational skills.
Interest in Retail Sales required.
Work well independently and within a team environment.
Strong computer background- learn new programs quickly.
Multi-task in many areas: Customer Service, Paint, Housewares.
Motivated, self-disciplined individual with a strong work ethic.
MUST, MUST, MUST like people!!!
Ability to listen and understand customer’s needs.
Flexibility in work schedule. Store Hours: 7:00 am – 8:00 pm Monday - Friday and 8:00am – 5:00 pm Saturday.
Physically fit: able to stand, walk and assist with 30-50 lb packages.

Pay: $17.60-$19.00 per hour
