About the Role
Family Forever Inc. is seeking reliable, compassionate, safety-focused individuals to join our team as Child & Youth Transportation Workers.
This position is primarily responsible for providing safe, professional, and reliable transportation for children and youth receiving services through Family Forever Inc. and our community partners.
Transportation assignments may include pickups and drop-offs for school/daycare, family visits, appointments, therapy, placements, recreational activities, community programs, and other approved destinations.
This is not a delivery, courier, taxi, or rideshare position. Employees work directly with children and youth and are expected to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, appropriate supervision, and a high standard of client safety throughout each assignment.
This position may be well suited for individuals with experience or education in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Community Support, Human Services, Education, Early Childhood Education, Disability Support, Healthcare, Security, professional driving, or other client-service roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport children and youth to and from approved locations.
- Complete pickups and drop-offs at homes, placements, schools/daycares, family visits, appointments, therapy programs, recreational activities, and community locations.
- Follow all client-specific transportation instructions, safety plans, pickup/drop-off procedures, and referral requirements.
- Provide appropriate supervision and maintain client safety throughout transportation assignments.
- Ensure children are appropriately secured using required seat belts, booster seats, car seats, or other approved safety equipment where applicable.
- Maintain professional boundaries and respectful communication with children, youth, caregivers, families, caseworkers, agency partners, and Family Forever staff.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all client and family information.
- Communicate delays, transportation concerns, client concerns, incidents, or changes in circumstances to the appropriate Family Forever representative.
- Complete required transportation notes, mileage records, incident documentation, and other assigned records accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, reliable, and appropriately insured personal vehicle.
- Follow all traffic laws, safe-driving practices, Family Forever policies, and client-specific safety requirements.
- Respond calmly and professionally to unexpected situations that may arise during transportation.
- Attend required orientation, training, meetings, and supervision.
- Perform other transportation-related duties reasonably associated with the position.
Qualifications
Previous professional experience transporting or supporting children, youth, vulnerable individuals, or community-service clients is considered an asset.
Education or training in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Human Services, Community Support, Educational Assistance, Early Childhood Education, Disability Studies, Psychology, or a related field is also considered an asset; however, applicants with suitable experience and demonstrated reliability may be considered.

Mandatory Employment Requirements
Successful candidates must have or be able to provide:
- A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's Licence.
- A reliable personal vehicle suitable for transporting children and youth.
- Valid automobile insurance appropriate for employment-related client transportation.
- An acceptable and current Driver's Abstract.
- A valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- A Child Intervention Record Check completed within the previous six (6) months and current/acceptable at the time of hire.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain it before beginning client assignments.
- Ability and willingness to safely transport children and youth as a regular part of the position.
Availability
This is a Casual/Relief position, and hours will vary depending on client referrals, transportation requests, employee availability, and operational requirements.
There are no guaranteed minimum hours.
Transportation assignments may be available during:
- Early mornings
- School/daycare pickup and drop-off times
- Weekdays
- Afternoons
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Statutory holidays
- Occasional extended-distance or long-distance transportation assignments
- Short-notice assignments

Compensation
Starting Wage: $17.00 per hour
Eligible and approved work-related mileage is reimbursed at:
$0.50 per kilometre
Family Forever Inc. operates on a monthly payroll cycle.
Statutory/general holiday entitlements are calculated in accordance with applicable Alberta Employment Standards legislation.

- Are you able to provide a valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the previous six (6) months and acceptable at the time of hire?
- Are you able to provide a Child Intervention Record Check completed within the previous six (6) months and acceptable at the time of hire?
- Are you willing to ensure that children and youth use appropriate seat belts, booster seats, car seats, or other required vehicle safety equipment when applicable?
- Are you comfortable being responsible for the supervision and safety of children and youth while they are travelling in your vehicle?
- Are you willing and able to follow client-specific transportation instructions, safety plans, pickup/drop-off procedures, and directions from Family Forever Inc.?
- Are you comfortable completing both short-distance and occasional long-distance transportation assignments within Edmonton, surrounding communities, and other Alberta locations when available?
- Are you comfortable regularly transporting children and youth to locations such as schools, daycares, family visits, placements, appointments, therapy programs, recreational activities, and other community locations?
Work Location: On the road
