About The Role:
We are looking for a temporary Community Engagement Clerk to join our team. The Community Engagement Clerk is responsible for supporting Civida tenants with building connections to services and support and at times providing hands-on support to ensure connection to services. A primary function includes liaising with community organizations and other staff and contractors to promote the best quality of life for tenants. The position is also responsible for assisting tenants with transitioning through the spectrum of housing and working with them to increase successful tenancies. They will focus on creating and maintaining beneficial relationships with tenants, by ensuring that there is ongoing effective support and assistance. Salary: $60,683.41 to $73,703.82 per annum
*This is a 1-year temporary position*
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with tenants for the duration of their tenancy with the organization.
- Explain and educate tenants on the various areas of the organization and provide contact information as required.
- Provide tenants with information and guidance on how to access and use various networks of support and/or resources/agencies within the community.
- Responsible for bringing forward issues and trends that the tenants are facing and working toward solutions to assist them in achieving goals.
- Addressing fluctuating levels of anti-social behavior from acquired reports with a solution focused lens.
- Effectively and compassionately support tenants utilizing strong observational and listening skills.
- Complete and conduct regular visits within specified timeframes. Review and complete all required documentation.
- Conduct eviction prevention assessments and implement policies, procedures, and processes to help tenants maintain their homes.
- Maintain up to date casework notes, statistics, and other required reporting in compliance with relevant standards, policies and procedures.
- Complete and conduct home visits to assist teams with identifying barriers and providing support for tenants. This includes but is not limited to assisting district teams for condition of units, non-compliance pest control, and annual income review completion.
- Coordinate tenant support and referrals with empathy and respect.
- Build and maintain relationships with community agencies and partnerships.
- Attending partner agency and community events to network and promote Civida programs and information.
- Plan and coordinate tenant socials and community events.
- Identify gaps for tenants and ensure connection to services required.
- Facilitate and lead group discussions with partnering agencies.
Qualifications:
- Completion degree/diploma with a focus on social serving disciplines.
- Equivalencies may be considered; directly related experience or education considered based on one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
- Understanding trauma informed practices and a strong understanding of social issues that may be impacting Civida tenants/applicants.
- A strong ability to problem solve and have difficult conversations with a compassionate approach is essential.
- Previous demonstration of critical thinking is paramount.
- This role will require access to a personal vehicle for work, at least 50% travel is expected in this role. Proof of insurance and a driver’s abstract will be requested and will be subject to review annually.
- Reasonable knowledge of basic accounting principles – basic-to-moderate level – to be able to prepare standardized reports and explain them to tenants.
- Knowledge of other agencies or organizations to provide appropriate client referrals.
- Considerable knowledge of the purpose, organization, and methods of the department and of the policies and regulations governing the work program.
