Machine Operator – Bakery and Chocolate Production

Position Summary

We are seeking dependable and mechanically inclined Machine Operators to join our production team. The Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently setting up, operating, monitoring, and adjusting production equipment used in our bakery and chocolate operations.

The Machine Operator helps ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established food safety, quality, and production standards.

Reports to: Production Lead Hand
Position type: Full-time, permanent
Pay: $16.00–$19.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, monitor, and adjust bakery and chocolate production equipment.
Operate equipment such as cookie rotary machines, wire-cut machines, bread depositors, and other production equipment as required.
Monitor product weights, dimensions, appearance, and other specifications to ensure quality standards are met.
Make basic equipment adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
Assist with equipment changeovers and product transitions.
Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, sanitized, and inspected before, during, and after production.
Complete required production documentation accurately, including batch records, production counts, and downtime tracking.
Identify and report equipment, product quality, food safety, or workplace safety concerns promptly.
Communicate maintenance requirements to the appropriate team members.
Follow all food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, allergen-control, and health and safety requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping, and Sanitation.
Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing or food-production environment is an asset.
Experience working with food-manufacturing or bakery equipment is an asset.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate, monitor, and make basic adjustments to production equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
Ability to understand and communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, production schedules, and food safety requirements.
Ability to complete production records and documentation accurately.
Good hand-eye coordination.
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet production requirements.
Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, food safety, and workplace health and safety requirements is an asset.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
Ability to work safely around moving machinery and production equipment.
Ability to work in an environment that may include elevated noise levels, flour dust, production odors, water, cleaning chemicals, and hot or cold temperature variations.
Required use of personal protective equipment, including CSA-approved steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, hair restraints, beard nets where applicable, and other PPE as required.

Schedule

6:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Four 10-hour shifts per week
Day shift
Schedule will be either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, depending on operational requirements.
No regularly scheduled weekend shifts.
