Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to join our legal team. Our small firm has one lawyer who practices in real estate and criminal law. Some experience with real estate transactions is strongly preferred, but no experience with criminal law is necessary.

This role provides essential support in managing legal documents, scheduling meetings, and ensuring the smooth operation of day to day operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and must be organized. This position offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment where precision and confidentiality are paramount.

Responsibilities

Proofread and review legal documents for accuracy, clarity, and consistency;
Corresponding with clients, lawyers, and lenders re. our files;
Gather relevant information from clients for case preparation;
Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of case details and client information;
Organize and file legal documents systematically to ensure easy retrieval;
Handle administrative tasks such as opening and closing files, scheduling appointments, and managing calendars; and
Exhibit professional phone etiquette when communicating with clients, lawyers, and third parties.

Skills

Experience with proofreading legal documentation;
Familiarity with legal research platforms;
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently;
Administrative experience including data entry, filing, and clerical tasks
Familiarity with real estate transactions and processes;
Exceptional phone etiquette and communication skills to interact professionally with clients and colleagues;
Exceptional problem-solving and interpersonal skills; and
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

This position is integral to supporting our legal team’s success through meticulous organization, thorough research, and effective communication. We value candidates who demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to their responsibilities.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
