Position Summary:
The Medical Proofreader (Quality Assurance Specialist) position is responsible for the timely review of complex medical assessment reports. This position requires reviewing and revising reports to address spelling and grammatical errors, identifying inconsistencies and omissions as well as formatting the final report in accordance with company editing and formatting procedures and ensuring the final report is in compliance with Q Medical quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing complex medical and legal assessment reports and must be able to communicate professionally with all external stakeholders including the medical professionals. This position will report to the Director of Operations.

Main Responsibilities:
- Reviewing Psychological Assessment, Psychiatric Assessment, and Neuropsychological Assessment Reports etc.; and/or
- Reviewing Orthopedic Assessment, Neurological Assessments, Chronic Pain Assessment Reports etc.; and
- Knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule and Medical Legal field
- Review medical assessment reports for wording, spelling, grammar, and punctuation;
- Fact check information/details within the assessment reports to ensure the information is accurate and consistent and following up with the regulated healthcare professional if any inconsistencies exist
- Edit errors and omissions using track changes;
- Communicate regularly with regulated healthcare professions regarding proposed edits, corrections, modifications, or changes are required in a professional manner as needed;
- Ensure that reports have consistently and thoroughly answered all referral source questions and all client instructions and specifications have been followed
- Format reports and create Word and PDF versions that include a Document Lists; and
- Other responsibilities as required.
Education and Experience:
- Experience reviewing medical reports and professional working experience within a medical/legal/insurance field is an asset
- Working knowledge of SABS an asset and/or Prior MVA industry experience work with Assessment Reports is an asset
- University Degree in a related field (Health Sciences, Psychology, etc.)
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Medical terminology and clinical knowledge
- Experience reviewing and editing medical reports
- Knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefit Schedule (SABS)
- Strong knowledge and application on MS Word, Excel, Google Sheets, etc.
- Healthcare professional designation an asset
- Strong communication skills verbally and written and in a professional manner
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and reasoning skills to analyze and interpret information;
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, external partners and providers;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Word;
- Meticulous attention to detail;
- Multi-tasking, time management, planning and organizing; and
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
