Position Summary:
The Site Lead is responsible for leading day-to-day operations on residential and commercial construction projects while remaining actively involved in the work. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong carpentry skills, excellent communication, and the ability to coordinate crews, subcontractors, and project schedules to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to LaPorte Construction's quality standards.
The Site Lead acts as the company's representative on site and is responsible for maintaining a professional job site, mentoring crew members, and ensuring every project reflects the quality and reputation of LaPorte Construction Inc.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Site Management
- Lead daily site operations and assign work to crew members.
- Work with the Project Manager to coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to maintain project schedules.
- Ensure work is completed according to drawings, specifications, and company standards.
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates, challenges, and scheduling needs to the Project Manager.
- Identify and solve problems before they impact production.
- Maintain a productive, positive, and respectful work environment.
- Mentor apprentices and labourers by providing coaching and instruction.
- Conduct daily site planning meetings when appropriate.

Safety Responsibilities
- Lead by example in following all company safety policies.
- Conduct daily hazard assessments.
- Ensure workers are using proper PPE.
- Complete SiteDocs inspections, toolbox talks, and safety documentation.
- Report incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately.
- Maintain compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Keep the site organized, clean, and safe at all times.
Quality Control
- Inspect work before progressing to the next stage.
- Ensure all work meets LaPorte Construction Inc. quality expectations.
- Coordinate deficiencies and warranty items.
- Protect finished work from damage.
- Maintain professional job site appearance.
Client Relations
- Represent LaPorte Construction Inc. professionally.
- Communicate respectfully with homeowners, clients, consultants, and inspectors.
- Answer client questions when appropriate.
- Ensure clients have a positive experience throughout construction.
Administration
- Complete daily site reports, where required.
- Record deficiencies.
- Assist with scheduling inspections.
- Coordinate deliveries and site logistics.
- Assist with material procurement when required.
Skills & Requirements:
· 5+ years of residential construction experience
· Strong framing and finishing carpentry skills
· Ability to read blueprints
· Experience leading construction crews
· Excellent problem-solving abilities
· Strong organizational skills
· Valid G Driver's Licence
· Reliable transportation
· Lift up to 50 lbs
· Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
· Stand, bend, climb, kneel, and lift throughout the workday
· Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment

Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour
