Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation and food handling, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation. This role requires a commitment to food safety and cleanliness in the kitchen while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present sushi dishes according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used in meal preparation.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and sushi station.
Adhere to food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal specials.
Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.
Train junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques when necessary.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in meal preparation.
Familiarity with various types of fish, seafood, and traditional Japanese ingredients.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
A passion for culinary arts, particularly in Japanese cuisine.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
