Full job description

REGULAR FULL-TIME

COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for preparing communication materials, social media management and public image support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Preparing communication materials for publication at meetings, events, and on our social media channels.

· Updating and monitoring social media accounts, websites and other digital platforms in accordance with the communications strategy.

· Drafting weekly updates, surveys, etc.

· Assisting the Director with scheduling, maintaining event calendars, preparing reports, minute taking, data entry and organizing events.

· Working with the Director to coordinate and develop marketing materials for events including tenant engagement, workshops, surveys, and other initiatives to gather feedback and promote community participation.

· Helping to manage the organization’s external image and ensuring all communication aligns with the company policies and strategic plan.

· Acting as a backup for the Executive Assistant to the President and CEO and fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of that role as needed.

· Completing an annual environmental scan in support of strategic planning.

· Leading the development of the annual report.

· Supporting the drafting of grant applications

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field or a 2-year diploma specifically in the communications field.

· Minimum of two years of experience in community engagement, partnership development, and/or grant writing.

· Prior experience in nonprofit, educational, or government setting is preferred.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and professional writing.

· Proven effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

· Excellent computer skills using Microsoft applications.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· Valid class 5 driver’s license with 5 years of driving experience and clean abstract

· Acceptable criminal record check

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Normal office conditions.

· Evenings and weekends as required.
