Full job description

Our client, a major resource company, is seeking a Safety & Compliance Coordinator to promote a proactive, frontline-driven safety culture through communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This position offers the opportunity to leverage previous expertise in safety, operations, and/or maintenance while partnering with operational leadership to provide guidance and support across Oil Sands operations.

This is a fly-in/fly-out position from Edmonton or Calgary on an 8 days on, 6 days off rotation.

Key Accountabilities

Champion the implementation and ongoing utilization of the client's Safety Management System.
Promote and ensure consistency in industrial hygiene, safety systems, and radiation control programs across Oil Sands operations.
Review incident reports, provide recommendations, and conduct investigations as required.
Attend area safety meetings, pre-job safety meetings, and conduct regular field inspections to promote a safe working environment.
Conduct safety and compliance inspections of facilities, contractors, consultants, and operations personnel.
Complete Worksite Safety Observations and provide coaching to promote safe work practices.
Support operational leadership by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Qualifications

Typically 5+ years of health and safety experience with a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety and/or a professional safety designation (NCSO, CRSP, CRST, etc.) is considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of applicable government legislation and industry best practices.
Previous Oil & Gas experience is preferred.
Previous mining or Oil Sands experience is considered a strong asset.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to build positive working relationships with operations, contractors, and leadership teams.

Additional Requirements

Legally entitled to work in Canada without restrictions.
Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
Required industry safety certifications.
Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including criminal record checks and drug and alcohol testing, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
