Job Description
Tl’azt’en Nation is seeking a reliable and detail oriented Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and daily care of Nation facilities.
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, sanitary, and welcoming spaces for staff, visitors, community members, and program participants. This role is important to the daily operation of the Nation and helps ensure buildings are safe, organized, and ready for use.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize offices, washrooms, kitchens, common areas, meeting rooms, entryways, and other assigned spaces.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, disinfect, and complete general cleaning duties.
Empty garbage and recycling and ensure proper disposal.
Restock supplies such as toilet paper, paper towel, soap, sanitizer, and cleaning products.
Clean doors, windows, counters, tables, appliances, and high touch surfaces.
Set up and clean meeting rooms, program spaces, and community areas as required.
Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damages, or supply shortages to the supervisor.
Follow proper cleaning procedures, safety practices, and WHMIS requirements.
Use cleaning equipment and products safely and appropriately.
Maintain cleaning supply storage areas in an organized and safe manner.
Support seasonal or deep cleaning duties as required.
Assist with snow clearing or entryway safety as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and respect when working in office and program spaces.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities experience is preferred.
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and proper use of cleaning supplies.
WHMIS certification is considered an asset.
Ability to work independently and follow schedules, checklists, and instructions.
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean spaces.
Reliable, punctual, respectful, and professional.
Ability to lift, bend, stand, walk, and perform physical duties throughout the shift.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when working around offices, documents, and staff areas.
Knowledge of Tl’azt’en Nation culture and community, or willingness to learn.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check may be required.
